High Falls Homestead

Our clients on this project had just completed building a very green and super energy efficient home on a five-acre parcel of old agricultural meadows surrounded by woodlands. The clay soil and subsequent seasonal sun-baked hardpack or saturated and slippery mud presented a challenge in moving forward on their planting goals. Our role was to develop a comprehensive plan for their new homestead that included soil and water management and appropriate plantings. The plan included a vegetable garden, fruit tree orchard, low and high naturalized meadows, evergreens for privacy and 4 season color, rain gardens, naturalized wetalnds, house plantings, outdoor dining, entertaining and play areas and deer control strategies.
